Counter Strike: Source beta?

While stumbling around Steam the other day I found that there was a page listed Counter Strike: Source beta. I found this odd seeing that the game came out OVER SIX YEARS AGO, but after some digging I found that the guys at Valve are getting ready to "re-vamp" the game to meet the new standards set by games like Team Fortress 2 and the Left 4 dead series.

A list of new additions includes:

0 144 achievements added

0 New lifetime player stats and summary screens

0 New match player stats and summary screens

0 New end of round display with MVP and interesting fact about a player

0 Updated scoreboard with new icons, visual style, MVP stars, and avatar pictures

0 New cinematic death camera

0 New domination and revenge system

0 Added avatar icons to voice chat, scoreboard, and end of round display

0 Incorporated many source engine updates

Very interesting. I wonder if this means they're making a new counter strike, or if the update is going to take the place of a new one.

I wouldn't think so. I think Valve is just updating the game to meet the new standards set by games like Team Fortress 2 and the Left 4 dead series, but never underestimate Valve.

I am curious though how many people have switched to Modern Warfare 2 or Battlefeild bad company 2.

No matter how many have switched over, there are always the die-hard fans. Take Halo 2 for instance. There are people still playing it online, only because they haven't turned their systems off since the service was shut down. Also look at Resistance: Fall of Man. If you go into it's matchmaking between 8 pm and 3 am, you'll almost always find a game, and that was a PS3 launch game.

The new Counter strike source i am not going to lie. It is not as good as the old one.
