| Hi everyone, First let me say how sorry I am on promising you an update and not getting it up on time. Due to the holiday (Labor day) the site update was somehow lost in transmission and after four days of phone calls, E-mails and finally re-updating I have updated the www.HAM-LAN.com site. For those of you in the forums that have been eagerly here is the news I was talking about: To our community:First I would like to thank all of you for your support. The whole point of HAM-LAN is to bring the local gaming community together for a competitive but most of all FUN event. When I first drew up the plans for HAM-LAN I took inspiration from all the LAN parties I had attended (most of which are no longer around) and kept what I liked and what I wanted to see done at an event based on my gamer background. I can safely say that I am very happy with our past events, but as the old saying goes “there is always room for improvement”. That is why I am announcing the new event format for HAM-LAN The largest change is rather than having three small events a year, we will be focusing more on having one large event held in the summer. This change comes based on the feedback I have received from attendees as well as some of my personal thoughts concerning the event. Some of the main goals of only having one event are: O Rather than having smaller, more sporadic events with only a few prizes for tournament winners and giveaways, we will be able to better reward people for attending HAM-LAN by obtaining more sponsors and providing substantial CASH PRIZES for tournament winners. O With only having one event people will have more time to prepare for attending the event making it easier to obtain transportation and book lodging near the event. O Traditionally the HAM-LAN events have only been 2 days long. By scheduling a large event in the summer we are now able to extend HAM-LAN into a 3 to 4 day event which will enable us to run more activities and tournaments. O The HAM-LAN event and other local events will run almost like a circuit with other gaming events being scheduled only a week or up to a month apart from one another. Those of you that have been in the southern Ohio gaming scene for awhile do not have to worry about another LAN being cancelled because HAM-LAN is not disappearing anytime soon. As a matter of fact I am working with other local gamers in running a “local only” gaming based website by the name of CINCIFRAG. Cincifrag is a local (Cincinnati) gaming site dedicated to gaming news and tournaments in the immediate area. Cincifrag is working on creating a place for local gamers to not only connect with one another, but to also find out about all the awesome events (like HAM-LAN) that are going on right in your back yard. So heard on over, create an account in the forums and start trolling. As always if you have any Questions, Comments or Suggestions send an E-mail to hamiltonlanparty@gmail.comOnce again thank you and keep on frag’n Mike “mohawkmike” Bisson (Head HAM-LAN Staff) | |
